Sometime last week, the Mr. and I decided it was a good idea to drive 4 hours to go to Pittsburgh just so that we could go to Ikea. I have never been and there were *some* items on my list to get for the house…and since we had the kids sleeping over their Grandma’s house it was a go. We got a very, very late start after a very frustrating day for both of us and there was maybe talk of not going. But we did and it all turned out great. I sort of chronicled the fun with my iPhone.
Besides what you can see in the pictures, we encountered a whole population of Furries (if you don’t know, look it up) in Pittsburgh for a conference…that was probably the most…er, interesting. I played DJ all the way to Pitt, playing favorites…and not so favorites..from our college years (seriously, anyone who graduated between 2000 and 2004 loved Nickelback’s “This is How You Remind Me”. Don’t deny it…you know who you are). I tasted one of the BEST (little) doughnuts I have ever had at Peace Love & Little Donuts (which is a pretty big declaration, considering we have the amazing Paula’s Donuts here in Buffalo). We played a little game called “What’s In (enter U.S. State here)?”, looked up each state on Wikipedia, and learned little snippets about our great country. And we had fun spending over 4 hours roaming around Ikea, getting lots of ideas for home projects and styling for Steve’s office space. Not bad for a 24 hour, round trip visit to Pittsburgh and back.
Little shout out to exit 59 on the NYS Thruway, home of SUNY Fredonia…where we met, got together, got engaged, and both had some amazing times. YEAH!
