yarn and wire cupcake topper {diy}

Do you remember the Perfect Pair Party Inspiration I shared on Sunday?  One of the pretties I posted was a wire cake topper.  When planning out the details of the Perfect Pair baby shower some friends and I threw last weekend, I was certain that wire topper was going to be it for topping the treat selection…until I saw the Fall 2014 publication of Better Homes & Gardens “Make It Yourself”.  Here is a little sneak peek into the party and the fabulous toppers.

No pun intended, but I love this twist on the wire cupcake topper.

The tutorial in the magazine is super easy.  Took no time at all!  I wrote out my words on card stock first.  Using 20 gage wire, I ‘traced’ the word, taping as I went along.  Bend, twist, tape, etc.

Once all taped, I carefully removed the word and began to wrap with brown yarn.  I finished the edges with hot glue and attached wooden skewers.

So cute and clever…thanks BHG!
