thanks a latte {printable}

Just in case you need a last minute dance teacher gift…

Latte-CardLatte Card Print

This is what Little Miss gave to her dance teacher at recital last weekend.  Moira loves giving presents, mostly in the form of beautiful artwork out of her favorite princess or fairy coloring book.  And she did give just that as well.

Have a happy day…

got bacon?

I do.  And it’s covered in chocolate.  And it would make a fabulous man-gift (say, father’s day???).

My husband and I jumped on the chocolate bacon band-wagon a couple of years ago after this delightful treat.

If you don’t know, you should.  I am a tremendous fan of Vosges Haut-Chocolat.  My head almost exploded when we went into the store at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas.  Almost exploded.  The stuff is amazing.  Don’t even get me started on the truffles there.

Ok, I need a moment to compose myself.

Ok, I’m back.

A couple of suggestions for dipping your bacon in chocolate.  Thick-cut bacon.  Turn often in the pan so it is flat.  Use a good quality chocolate…great quality.  Melt in a mug.  Use a spatula to scrape off some of the chocolate before you set it out to cool/harden…otherwise your chocolate will be so thick it will overpower your bacon (that statement is hilarious).  And sprinkle your salt while the chocolate is still warm so the salt will stick.

Chocolate.  Bacon.  Yes, please.
(And no, this is not on the Food Lover’s Cleanse)

terrarium {diy}

These days, you can find terrariums everywhere…the blogosphere, the home improvement stores, artificial ones in home decor stores…even Wegmans has a whole display of terrariums.  I have to admit, I am sort of in love with them.  I also have to admit, I am not about to pay 30-something dollars for one.  So I made one.  And gave it to my Momma for her (late) birthday present.

 I thought it was appropriate since she loves plants, the southwest (Sedona specifically), and handmade.  Easy-peasy…

This project was so easy and fast I made one for myself.

And since I went a little overboard on the succulents, some other special people will be receiving DIY terrariums soon…I wonder who?

spa day goodies

Every year, a group of girls get together for a spa day.  We lounge, get our treatments, sit in a hot tub, relax in hot springs, snack, go out to dinner, then drinks.  It is a big deal and most looked forward to all year long.

Snacks are a big part of our day, since we sit around for a long time and get really hungry, so I made these for each of us to bring.

With a kraft bag for a canvas, washi tape (who doesn’t love that stuff), and bakers twine, you can deck out a plain bag, making a fun “favor”.

I included the Healthy Carrot Muffins I posted about a couple of weeks ago.  Spa, healthy muffins…they just seemed to go together.

I was giddy when I got to hand out each treat to the girls.  Ok, I admit, I had the prepare-to-blush-because-you-are-about-to-get-teased-big-time-because-you’re-nuts laugh.  (Easier to call it giddy).

The goodies were a hit and spa day was another (relaxing) success.  And there wasn’t too much “There goes Anne again” teasing…not for the bags anyway.  The dancing that happened when we went out later…another story.

More Presents and Tissue Paper Flowers

A couple weeks ago (or was it months?  I can’t remember), a good friend had her bridal shower.  I made something special for her, was so excited for her to get it, then I got the stomach flu and didn’t get to go to the shower.  Wah, wah.

She finally got her gift last week.

Complete with tissue-paper flowers…

And homemade tag with envelope! (I love these so much I may have to make them again!)

I really wanted to make something for her to give in addition to her registry gift but was stumped for a bit on what to do.  Her and her hubby-to-be are moving after the wedding and I didn’t want to get into anything too bulky that would have to be transported.  AND who knows what colors she will be decorating with since they don’t know where they are living yet.

I ended up making these simple cloth napkins and reversible place mats.  I was relieved to find out that they would match the dining room in their new apartment nicely.

from Macy’s

Her registry had this really pretty green and white vase by Lennox, so paired with that and the cute napkin rings to tie the whole thing together (in addition to the plates, silverware, etc that she will probably get off of her registry), this lady now has a table setting.

It was so simple, and part of me was sad to see it go.  I just love the way it all came together…and that harvest-gold-flowered fabric…*tear*
