I have wanted to try my hand at homemade infused vodkas for a while now. I did some vanilla before Christmas but was interested in experimenting a little with other flavors. Earlier this week I concocted a few to try out today with some friends that came over for lunch. I am very pleased with the results!
And, as indicated by my husband’s pint glass filled with homemade vodka-lemonade goodness, he is pleased too.
Knowing that I wanted to serve the vodka in some sort of lemonade-cocktail, I decided to try these flavors first: Rosemary-Lemon, Vanilla-Grapefruit, and Raspberry-Lime.
Got my fresh ingredients.
Got my good quality vodka. (This is the same vodka I used for my vanilla flavored infusion and the same vodka I add every time my vanilla vodka store depletes.)
Put it all into my mason jars and let it sit in a cool, dark spot for about a week.
I gave it a little tip-shake every couple of days. At the end of the week I strained the vodka through some cheese cloth, wrapped up the solids in the cloth and gave it a good squeeze to get the rest of the liquid out…we don’t want any of that going to waste, now!
Then, I added a little to my lemonade. My favorite is the Vanilla-Grapefruit. The Raspberry-Lime was probably everyone else’s favorite. I only say that because it is gone.
Now doesn’t that look refreshing?
